Hawaii, Day 9 at the Waimea Valley Botanical
Gardens and Waterfall
Hawaii, Day 9
These photos were taken on Day 9 of my Hawaii summer, and this was my first day of actually shooting a lot of images with my new D60. I absolutely love the way it shoots, and the photos that I got were pretty good for my first day out. All told, I shot almost 200 images, and the ones above are the best of those (some of the ones I shot were duplicates, or for use in HDR merges).
These shots were taken at the Waimea Valley Botanical Garden and Waterfall. It was a gorgeous day outside, mid-80s and sunny with a nice breeze flowing down the valley. Some of the flowers hadn't opened up yet, so I plan on going back later in the season to get more of the flowers and get the waterfall when it has more water flowing in it. Right now were at the end of the dry season, so the falls were a bit small, but in a few weeks the water will start flowing more vigorously. The upper regions of the mountains that feed the falls get an annual rainfall of 230+", which is pretty crazy.
