Hawaii, Day 63 - USS Arizona Memorial Park/Pearl Harbor

Hawaii, Day 63

Went to the Arizona Memorial and Pearl Harbor Museum with Donna and Isaac. Going to the memorial is a half-day experience, mostly because of the lines. While waiting to board the ferry over to the memorial you can look around the museum and listen to the park rangers tell the history of Pearl Harbor, what happened on that day and the days following, and the role of Hawaii and Pearl Harbor in World War II. Then you board the ferry and cross over to the memorial. The memorial was perhaps the most somber place I have ever been, competing with Arlington Cemetery for that distinction. In the gallery I attempted to capture the essence of the memorial without disturbing anyone. However, the memorial is not simply something you can see, it's something you have to feel.
