Parents Weekend, October 18, 2008, Northwestern MA.
October 18, 2008, Northwestern Massachusetts (mostly)
Mother and father came to visit for Parents Weekend. The weather was exceptionally nice, albeit chilly, so we decided to venture off into the Northwestern corner of Massachusetts and see what sort of trouble we could get into. Our first stop was Mt. Raimer State Park, which sits in New York right on the Mass border. After a brief but vigorous hike, we headed off down Rt. 2 into Williamstown, and continued on into North Adams. We stopped briefly at the Historic Beaver Mill, which has now been converted into artist lofts, and they were having an art exhibition (More info here). Right next door to that is Natural Bridge State Park, and we decided to check it out. It was absolutely beautiful. The park is sitting on what used to be the Hoosac Marble Company white marble quarry, and is the only natural marble arch/bridge in the United States. After walking the park we continued on our way, stopping for late lunch next to the Cheshire Reservoir. We headed back to Troy by way of Pittsfield to round out the day.
Be sure to check out my other galleries! Thanks!
