Early December Ice Storm
Early December Ice Storm - December 11-15, 2009
Early morning December 11 we got .75-1.5" of ice in the capital district. It knocked out power for some 5 million people, with power not being restored in some places for 8 days. I was without power for 4 days, but fortunately campus had full power, so I swent my days on campus and my nights huddled in my 34F degree bedroom under a pile of blankets, hoodies, and sweaters. On Saturday Dec. 13, the sun was out and the sky was cloudless, with a high temperature of around 8F. I decided to get out my camera and try to capture the beautiful winter wonderland that RPI campus had become. I actually had to do this photo shoot in 3 parts because my fingers got so cold I couldn't push the shutter release anymore. Here's the result.
